The 2010 - 2011 Season:
Perception/Projection
|
Star Bar is deeply saddened to
learn of the sudden passing of Judy
Girard, one of our oldest and dearest friends; she might
very well have taken your ticket and shown you to your seat. She and
her husband of 17 years, John Megow, met during a Star Bar show and
were just as in love now as they ever were; their devotion
and delight in each other were a joy to behold. Judy died of
heart failure on February 1 after rescuing her granddaughter
and family pets from a carbon monoxide leak in her home. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations to either of two causes
important to her, AIDS research and Belgian Tervuren dog rescue. The rest
of Star Bar's 2010 - 2011 season is dedicated to her memory. You can
find her full obituary online at the Gazette.

Waiting
for Godot
Samuel Beckett
November 5 - 20,
2010
|
November:
Pass
the time with Didi and Gogo in the original show about nothing; they
cover everything from footwear to flatulence in this uproarious,
dolorous reflection on the ridiculous dignity of the human
condition, the elusive nature of meaning and the oft-excruciating
ennui of existence. Beckett’s quintessential work exquisitely
articulates the desolate hilarity of the quest for relevance in a
cryptic universe. Will Godot ever come – and even if he does, will
it matter?

June 3, 4, 5; 10, 11, 12; 17, 18
19, 2011:
Christopher Durang's outrageous,
irreverent take on patriotism and paranoia in the post-9/11
world. Felicity awakens one morning with a terrible hangover -
and married to a complete stranger: Zamir, whose volatile
temper, mysterious activities and indeterminate ethnicity push
the Threat Level up to Orange for her and her parents. The
insanity escalates with a couple of shadow-government
operatives, a sinister butterfly collection and an amateur spy
who keeps losing her undies. From Freedom Fries to
waterboarding, nothing is sacred in this acerbic, absurd and
affectionate insight into an America under attack.
